Application in Standard Form (as published in Assam Gazette, Part IX) including Mobile No. and email Id with full Bio-Data and supporting documents from H.S.L.C onwards are invited from the eligible candidates for the following sanctioned posts of Assistant Professor

1. Department : Sociology – Unreserved (1 No. Post)

2. Age: 43 years as on the 1st day of the year in which the advertisement is issued with relaxation of 5 year for SC/ST candidates.

3. Reference date for acquiring qualification : Candidate has to acquire qualifications as on the last date for submitting applications. Eligibility like M.Phil/Ph.D/Seminar Papers/ Publications can be acquired and submitted on date of interview and not beyond.

4. Qualifications:

Education Qualification.

i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or a equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree Level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, SSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this clause 4.4.1, candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph.D Degree in according with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and procedure for Award of Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in University/College/Institutions.

iv. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate or Master’s Level for the Scheduled Cast/Scheduled Tribe/ Differently-abled categories for the purpose or eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to the teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, bases on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedure.

v. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of marks to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have obtained their Masters Degree Prior to September 19,1991.

The in-service candidate must have to submit the NOC from the appointing authority.
